AHHHH! i HATE the ORTHODONTIST!?
i have an expander type thing in my mouth and it hurts my tongue like crap when i swallow. if i dont swallow whole, then food gets stuck in it! i've tried stuff like yogurt, but soft foods like those dont work b\c it hurts my tongue. any tips for foods easy to eat or to ease the pain?!??! lOL, i sound deserate. >

o ya, its not an expander but its similiar. my tongue didnt get cut but it leaves the imprint on my tongue

OMG!!! i just got mine out about 3 months ago......its sore for the first few days, and yes, a whole bunch of crap will get stuck in there, but i dont remember getting my tounge cut....is it top or bottom??? i still have my bottom one in. anyway, if its a top expander, push ur tongue at the top and suck in (when you do this, your food might blast to the back of your throat. it wont hurt, it will just startle you) ......or breathe outward......the chunks of food might rocket out.....but u get used to it. (note: dont do it at the dinner table) if you have the expander that you turn every other day with the key, then the gap will get bigger and bigger and it will be easy to get the food out. advil helped me when i was in your situation, and it was gone within 20 minutes. take the pill and watch tv and it will be gone b4 u know it!!! good luck, and remember, beauty is pain....=]
