What is the right way to breathe???


I seem to have forgoten how.

does the belly go in and out?
or does the chest go up and down? (like superman)

.or does the whole thing expand on the inhale, and return on the exhale?

if you have a baby or small child they are a good way to find out.

I heard it on a yoga program once but dont remember which way they said.

so sad that we learn bad habits.

If you are relaxed and not engaged in a yoga practice then usually your abdomen rises and falls. Most of us don't breathe as fully as we should that's for sure. We have enormous lung capacity.
What they talked about on the yoga video (I believe) is Ujayi Breathing. This is a specific method of breathing where in you apply an upward lock (your lower abdominals go in and up toward your spine) and the you breathe deeply into your chest, you should feel a total expansion of the ribcage in an ideal practice (we all lose it and have to remind ourselves). Sometimes it's just a matter of conscious breathing.....hope this helps.
